Leana Groover

Leana joined the Flatlands Insurance Group in May 2022. Leana graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Communication. She is licensed in Property & Casualty.

How I Got Here:

I’ve lived in a small town surrounded by fields and farms all my life. From the time I was young to now I saw parents and grandparents of friends and classmates farming. The only difference now is, I am seeing their children starting to take over. It really puts into perspective that having a generation to take over an operation is important. My papa was a farmer when he lived in Georgia. Unfortunately, their farm suffered major loss and they had to move here to North Carolina. My dad would always talk about my Papa’s time in Georgia and how much work was involved in surviving on a farm. My involvement in agriculture started when I became part of the FFA in high school. When I applied for this job, I wasn’t sure of all that it would entail. I just knew farmers were some of the most important people in this world; and if I could help them in any way then that was more than satisfying to me.  I feel like being a part of the Crop Division at Flatlands has helped me see more of how vital farming is to our daily lives and to our economy.
