Mark Thompson

Mark is a trusted advisor helping farmers manage financial risk as a Crop Insurance Provider. His mobile office will come to you. Mark is an NC State Graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management. He has experience in grain merchandising, seed, and chemical marketing. Mark brings with him 7 years’ experience as an agricultural lender. His home base is in Greenville, with his wife, Sarah, and beloved dog Huckleberry. In his spare time, Mark loves to hunt ducks and spend time at the coast.

How I Got Here:

I have been involved with Agriculture my entire career in various aspects of the industry from hog production, grain merchandising, seed and chemicals and agricultural finance. During my 8 years as an Ag Lender, I began to learn more and more about crop insurance. Realizing the importance of crop insurance, as well as the little education and service available to growers, I began to become more involved with the other Agents at Flatlands to better understand my customers’ needs and to help better serve farmers. In 2021 I decided to take by knowledge and experience and join Flatlands so that I could continue to better support producers across the state. Putting the customer first and using on farm and operation specific data to make educated decisions tailored specifically to the customer. I believe that our customers will always be in the best possible situation no matter challenges they face throughout the season. That remains top priority. This has led me to customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia – row crops to nurseries. When I’m not serving customers, I enjoy spending time either on the water, or in the woods – depending on the season. I live with my wife and son in Greenville, NC and have been with Flatlands since 2021 and look forward to many more years to come.
