Summer Sanderlin

Summer Taylor joined Flatlands Insurance Group in January of 2020 as an Account Manager in the Crop Division. A Martin County native, Summer grew up on a farm and continued in the agricultural arena by studying Agricultural Production at the University of Mount Olive. She is excited to bring her knowledge and experience in agricultural crop research to the Flatlands team. Away from work, Summer enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Why I Love What I Do:

Growing up in rural North Carolina surrounded by farms on every side of the house, I understood the importance of agriculture at a very young age. It was such a treat getting to ride on the tractor with my grandaddy and helping him and my memaw in the garden when I was little. The whole family got together each summer to put up corn, and it always seemed to me like we did it on the hottest day of the year. Seeing the value of all the hard work that was being done made me develop a passion for agriculture. I got involved in FFA in high school, holding various chapter officer positions, and competing in career development events. I began to develop relationships within the agriculture industry which led me to an internship at the Tidewater Research Station in the Crop Science Department my senior year. I absolutely loved being out in the field, and working in the lab, so I decided to attend the University of Mount Olive where I obtained my bachelor’s degree majoring in agricultural production systems. Upon the completion of my degree, I worked various jobs within the industry and finally ended up here at Flatlands Insurance Group. I enjoy working with our clients and being able to make on-farm visits because that offers me not only an opportunity to educate our clients, but also to learn and gain wisdom from them and their many years of experience. I am thankful for the endless opportunities available within the agriculture industry, and I am proud to be a part of it.
