Location: New Bern
Salary: Highly Competitive (Dependent on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5:00pm (Summer hours include leaving at 1pm every other Friday)

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lead Benefits Account Manager to join our dynamic team.

 

Role Overview:
As a Lead Account Manager in our Employee Benefits Division, you will be at the forefront of managing and servicing our accounts, ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction. This in-person role demands a commitment to excellence, a knack for organization, and a proactive approach to client management. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing RFPs (Request for Proposals) for producers, onboarding new group benefits coverages, communicating with carrier representatives, handling service requests, managing renewals, rounding out accounts within department and agency, implementing benefit administration systems, and maintaining accurate records in our CRM, EPIC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a large book of business with groups ranging from 2 employees to 250 employees.
  • Servicing day-to-day group needs including eligibility, claims, and high escalation issues through email, phone, and Employee Navigator.
  • Gathering information and preparing RFP’s for multi-line policies by utilizing geographical data to propose appropriate carrier lines, including both medical and ancillary lines.
  • Onboarding new employer groups with all documentation, census data, and group/employee applications.
  • Overseeing open enrollments for groups, with occasional educational presentations.
  • Preparing renewal presentations, spreadsheets, benefit guides, gathering carrier specific Summary Plan Descriptions.
  • Ensuring timely communication of carrier deadlines and market updates as required.
  • Maintaining effective relationship and communication with producers, team, and carrier reps to facilitate duties as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in account management, preferably within the Employee Benefits sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Detail-oriented approach with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating both initiative and leadership.
  • Proficiency with CRM software, particularly EPIC.
  • High school diploma required; higher education or relevant certifications in insurance or related fields is a plus.
  • Must be willing to obtain insurance licensing within a designated timeframe if not already licensed, funded and supported by Flatlands Jessup.
